Six-Line Wrasse Care Guide

Scientific Name: Pseudocheilinus hexataenia
Common Names: Sixstripe Wrasse, Six-line Wrasse
Origin: Indo-Pacific

Temperament

Semi-aggressive; can be territorial towards similar-shaped fish, especially in smaller tanks.

Reef Compatibility

Reef Safe – Excellent for controlling pyramidellid snails and other pests.

Tank Requirements

  • Minimum Tank Size: 30–55 gallons

  • Aquascape: Plenty of live rock with crevices for hunting and hiding

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temp: 72–78°F

    • pH: 8.1–8.4

    • Salinity: 1.023–1.025

    • dKH: 8–12

Diet

Carnivore – naturally hunts pests but accepts:

  • Mysis and brine shrimp

  • Marine pellets and flakes

  • Copepods and amphipods

  • Frozen preparations

Size

Grows up to ~3" (7.5 cm)

Notes

  • Excellent pest controller for reef aquariums

  • Very active swimmer that constantly hunts

  • May harass smaller, shy fish or other wrasses
