The Senegal Bichir (Polypterus senegalus) is a fascinating and prehistoric-looking fish known for its eel-like body, armored scales, and unique lobed pectoral fins. Diet

  • Carnivorous

  • Feed a varied diet:

    • High-quality sinking pellets or carnivore sticks

    • Frozen or live foods: bloodworms, shrimp, fish fillets

    • Earthworms and other meaty foods

  • Feed in evening when most active

Behavior & Compatibility

  • Best with larger, peaceful fish that won't be eaten

    • Other similarly-sized bichirs
